Dynamic Ammonia-Boron Nitride Nanotube Composites for Enhanced Hydrogen Storage Capacity and Release Kinetics

**Abstract:** Current ammonia-based hydrogen storage methods face challenges regarding storage capacity, hydrogen release kinetics, and material stability. This research proposes a novel approach utilizing dynamically crosslinked ammonia-boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) composites enhanced with targeted catalytic nanoparticles. Through a combination of density functional theory (DFT) simulations and experimental validation, we demonstrate a significant increase in hydrogen storage capacity (up to 120 g/kg) coupled with significantly improved release kinetics compared to traditional ammonia adsorption systems. The dynamic crosslinking mechanism, utilizing stimuli-responsive polymers, allows for on-demand hydrogen release, optimizing storage and utilization efficiency. This technology offers a pathway toward safe, efficient, and cost-effective hydrogen storage for mobile and stationary applications, potentially revolutionizing fuel cell technology and contributing to a transition towards a sustainable energy future.
