Acute situational response and mirror neurons
This research introduces the Symmetry Reflex, a hypothesized neurocognitive mechanism derived from the mirror neuron system, shaping rapid motor responses during imminent road collisions. While traditional accident prevention focuses on infrastructure, mechanics, and behavior, this work emphasizes the overlooked role of unconscious reflexes in survival outcomes. The proposed Acute Situational Response Model (ASRM) integrates neuroscience, psychology, and safety science to establish a novel framework for accident prevention. Although conceptual, it lays the groundwork for experimental validation through neuroimaging, simulations, and training. This approach offers a fresh direction for public health, policy, and technology to reduce preventable road traffic deaths.
