Habitability Assessment of Six Lesser-Known Exoplanets: A Student Research Project
This research paper explores the habitability potential of six lesser known exoplanets using basic data from the NASA Exoplanet Archive. The selection was based on key criteria such as planet radius, stellar flux and orbital period. The goal of this study was to analyze and compare these planets using simple tools like Microsoft Excel to determine which ones might support life. The results highlight Kepler 442b, Kepler 186f and TOI 700d as the most promising candidates due to their Earth-like sizes and balanced energy input from their host stars. This project demonstrates how publicly available scientific data can be used by students to engage in real research and gain experience in the growing field of space science.
