Instructions manual for creating 3D models in JMStudio through structured light 3D scanning
This document provides step by step instructions on how to create 3D models in JMStudio with a Seal scanner from 3DMakerpro. It grew out of the work that we have carried out for the BeFRAIL project (https://www.befrail.org/, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), Portugal - ref. 2022.02398.PTDC, led by Dr Francisca Alves Cardoso (PI) and Dr Nicholas Márquez-Grant (co-PI)) and our doctoral projects: Vassallo: Visualising the past, feeling the present: exploring emotional and perceptual responses to 3D palaeopathological models in contemporary audiences (FCT funded, ref. 2022.02398.PTDC and 2025.03540.BDANA) Moreira: When future is past: an ethnographic inquiry into digital models of human skeletal remains (FCT funded, ref. 2024.04267.BD) The manual was developed upholding and following the British Association of Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology’s (BABAO) Code of Ethics and Code of Practice, as well as the American Association of Biological Anthropology (AABA) ethical guidelines. It does not include any images of human bones or tissues.
