The Effect of Procurement Management Practice On The Project Performance: The Case Of World Bank Funded Programs In Dire Dawa Administration Public Sector Organization

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of procurement management practice on project performance the case of World Bank funded programs in Dire Dawa administration public sector organization. The effect of procurement management practice on project performance examined using explanatory research design. This research was employed a quantitative research approach to discover the association between variables and assess their level of influence on project performance. To achieve its primary objectives, a self-administered questionnaire instrument was used, which were given to employees of World Bank funded programs in Dire Dawa administration public sector organization. Census sampling procedures were utilized to choose study participants who are appropriate for gathering relevant data, since total employees who currently working in all World Bank funded programs were only 130. From a total of 130 questionnaires were distributed out to the sampled respondents, 127(97.69%) valid questionnaires were obtained and used for further analysis. Project performance was treated as the dependent variable, with procurement planning practice, supplier sourcing practice, contract management practice and inventory management practice as the independent variable. Both multiple regression analysis and descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation utilized using the SPSS program version 26 to examine the data. The study's findings show that there was a significant and positive effect of procurement plan practice on project performance. Supplier sourcing practice has positive and significant effect on project performance. Inventory management practice has positive and significant effect on project performance. Contract management practice has also a positive effect on project performance but not significant hence Contract management has positive effect on project performance but not significant. As the research finding shows procurement management practices affect positively and significantly affect project performance therefore public projects recommended to give more focus on these practices to enhance project performance.
