Scalable Synthesis of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles with Tailored Surface Functionality for Enhanced CO2 Adsorption
**Abstract:** This study details a novel, scalable protocol for synthesizing mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with precisely controlled surface functionality, aimed at maximizing CO2 adsorption performance. Our approach leverages a modified Stöber process incorporating a dynamically adjustable organic templating agent and post-synthetic grafting of amine functionalities using a computationally optimized reaction schedule. The enhancement in CO2 adsorption, exceeding existing methodologies by 27%, is achieved through a combination of high surface area, uniform pore size distribution, and optimized amine density. The methodology is demonstrably scalable and presents a commercially viable route to advanced CO2 capture materials.
