Relationship between Students' Learning Behaviour and Their Performance at Higher Secondary Level

Students’ learning behaviour, including engagement, motivation, and study strategies, directly influences their academic performance. Positive learning habits lead to better understanding, retention, and higher achievement at the higher secondary level. The objectives of the study were to find out the relationship between students’ learning behaviour (Engagement, motivation, persistence, learning strategies and collaboration) and their performance, and to find out the effect of students’ learning behaviour (Engagement, motivation, persistence, learning strategies and collaboration) on their performance at secondary level. The design of the study is correlational. This study was quantitative research that helps in evaluating the relationship between students’ learning behavior, and their performance. Positivism is the philosophical paradigm used in quantitative research. The population was comprised of all public and private higher secondary level of Lahore district. The instrument of the study was questionnaires. The validity of the research instrument was tested through expert opinion while the instrument's reliability was tested through pilot testing. Cronbach's Alpha was computed to assess the dependability of the tool. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The first research objective answer was found using Pearson r and the second research objective was found using linear regression. The findings of the study revealed that there was moderate positive effect and relationship between students' learning behaviour and their performance at higher secondary level. It was recommended that Educators should implement programs and strategies that promote active learning, self-regulation, and collaborative skills to enhance students’ learning behaviour and academic performance at the higher secondary level.
