Estimation of Sequestered carbon by Rice crop in Bhatapara of Chattisgarh, India

To assess the magnitude of aboveground and belowground sequestered carbon from Rice crop using standard methods involving estimation of total crop yield along with different associated factors This investigation was carried out at DKS college of Agriculture and Research Station, Bhatapara, Chattisgarh, India between 2021 and 2023. The farm of Bhatapara is situated in Baloda Bazar district located under the Chhattisgarh Plain Zone. The sequestered carbon, estimated in terms of Total biomass (TBM), Below ground biomass (BGB) and the Aboveground biomass (AGB) have been found 2544.44 q, 508.88 q and 2035.56 q respectively for the year 2021. Similarly, for the year 2022, TBM, the BGB and the AGB have been calculated to be 2358.06 q, 471.61 q and 1886.44 q respectively, while for 2023, Above ground biomass (AGB) has been 2710.53 q, Total Biomass (TBM) has been 3388.17 q and Belowground Biomass (BGB) has been 677.63 q. In 2021, the Aboveground recorded as 854.93 q, Belowground as 193.37 q and the Total Carbon Content (TCC) as 1048.30 q respectively. Similarly, for the year 2022, the ACC, BCC and TCC were estimated to be 792.30 q, 179.21 q and 971.51 q respectively. While Total Carbon Content (TCC), Aboveground Carbon Content (ACC) and Belowground Carbon Content (BCC) were calculated as 1395.92 q, 1138.42 q and 257.49 q for 2023.
