Enhanced Plasma Sidechain Security and Throughput via Dynamically Allocated Byzantine Fault Tolerance Consensus (DAS-BFT)

**Abstract:** Plasma chains, while offering scalability solutions for blockchains, are susceptible to security vulnerabilities stemming from the dependence on a main chain for dispute resolution and throughput limitations imposed by consensus mechanisms. This paper proposes Dynamically Allocated Byzantine Fault Tolerance Consensus (DAS-BFT), a novel approach integrating a dynamically adjustable committee size within a Plasma sidechain. DAS-BFT leverages real-time network conditions, block propagation latency, and dispute frequency to optimize the BFT committee size, improving both security (resistance to malicious actors) and throughput. We demonstrate through simulations that DAS-BFT enables up to a 3x increase in transaction throughput while maintaining a robust security margin compared to traditional Plasma chains utilizing fixed-size BFT committees. This research pushes Plasma technology closer to real-world adoption by addressing key scalability and security concerns.
