Advanced Strategies for Completion Workover Riser (CWOR) Operations in Deep Waters: A Systematic Literature Review
This article presents a comprehensive systematic review of the scientific literature on advanced strategies for Completion Workover Riser (CWOR) operations in deep waters, based exclusively on publications from journals classified as A and A in the Qualis/CAPES system. The research covers the main technological advances, operational challenges, and innovative solutions related to CWOR systems, with special emphasis on projects for extreme depths, development of new composite materials, advanced methodologies for structural integrity and fatigue analysis, and techniques for mitigating vortex-induced vibrations (VIV). The results reveal a significant evolution in the area, highlighting the transition from casing-based systems to drill pipe-based systems, the promising development of composite materials as an alternative to conventional steel, and the growing sophistication of riser-well-soil system integrity analysis methodologies. The analysis also identifies critical gaps in current knowledge, particularly related to the long-term qualification of composite materials in aggressive marine environments and the integration of real-time monitoring systems. It is concluded that advanced strategies in CWOR are fundamental for the technical and economic viability of exploration and production projects in ultra-deep waters, demanding continuous innovation and technological development to meet the growing challenges of the offshore industry
