Spiritual Formation in the New Covenant Temple

The New Testament metaphor of the new covenant temple not only expresses God’s immediate presence with his people, but is also helpful for understanding the sanctification process. Just as idolatry sometimes polluted the old covenant temple and needed to be eradicated, the new covenant people of God can defile their lives with idolatries that displease God and need to be removed. This can be done through cooperating with the indwelling Spirit of God.
