Redefining Maritime Security with Uncrewed Surface Vehicles and Artificial Intelligence
From protecting global trade routes to enforcing national sovereignty and stopping environmental crime, maritime security today faces growing complexity and scale. With 90% of global goods moving across the ocean and vast unmonitored regions vulnerable to illegal activities, conventional surveillance methods are no longer sufficient. Manned patrol vessels and fixed monitoring stations struggle with endurance, cost, and coverage. A new class of tools is emerging that combines persistence, intelligence, and low-cost operation at scale. Advances in uncrewed vehicles – surface (USVs), underwater (UUVs), and aerial (UAVs) – and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze their data streams are transforming the field.
