Influence of Albitbr Application on Growth and Yield of Tomato (Lycopersicon Esculentum) Cultivars Under Open Field Conditions
Objective: The study was conducted with the aim of determining the best cultivar and the right dose of the albitbr biostimulant leading to the production of plants attaining the highest growth and yielding potentials by overcoming the existing biotic and abiotic stresses. Methods: The study involved three different tomato cultivars (Revansh, Malets and Fenaric) each treated with different concentrations of the bio-stimulant albitbr (0%, 0.01%, 0.1%, 1% and 5%). The field was designed to fit a randomized complete block design (RCBD) and each treatment was replicated three times. Data collection was made by selecting two plants from each plot for growth parameters and from net plot area (0.45m2). Genstat software was used for data analysis using ANOVA at 5% level of significance. Key Findings: Application of the Albitbr bio-stimulant tend to have a significant impact on the yielding potential of tomato plants irrespective of the doses applied. Albitbr applied at a dose of 0.01% produced plants with the highest values of number of branches (5.01), leaf area (140.7 cm2), number of fruits (18.11) and total yield (52.58t/ha). Fenaric cultivar produced the highest values of individual fruit weight (78.5g) and Total yield (52.46t/ha). Out of the 15 interaction treatments, Fenaric plants treated with 0.01% Albitbr resulted into the highest total yield value (62.34t/ha). Conclusion: In this experiment, we are able to determine the best cultivar and dose of the bio-stimulant by making a comparative analysis. Thus, the cultivar Fenaric and the albitbr dose 0.01% were the ones, which were found to be the best performing in relation to the yielding potential by overcoming the existing stresses.
