A Critical Interpretative Analysis of Digital Therapeutics in Diabetes: Transforming Patient Engagement and Treatment Adherence

Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that necessitates continuous monitoring of medications, lifestyle modification and routine health monitoring. HUMRAHI, a digital patient support program created by Lupin, was developed to bridge the communication gap. The objective of this research was to assess the role of digital therapeutics in diabetes care focused on patient engagement, medical adherence, and healthcare accessibility and more efficient patient care delivery. A mixed method approach using over 20 scientific papers and 2 Press releases on digital therapeutics. Results indicate that over 70,000 patients had been helped by tailored medical and lifestyle guidance. Increased medication compliance, tracking of blood sugar levels, BMI, and better physical activity were observed, more than 12,000 doctors had suggested HUMRAHI for diabetes management and improved the communication gap. Digital therapeutics for diabetes management established patient centric, flexible, and data driven care. This research had provided impetus for greater inquiry into DTx to expand strategies for chronic disease management. Keywords: Digital Therapeutics, Diabetes Management, Patient Support System, Real-time Health Monitoring, Personalized Counselling, Lupin’s Humrahi JEL Classification Number: I10, I15, 033
