DEFINITENESS IN JAPANESE WITH PARTICLES WA/GA
The purpose of this paper is to understand that Noun Phrases in Japanese can aquire definite interpretation even in the absence of definite or indefinite articles, since the morphosyntactic structure of them allows for such specification. Even though the discussion is extremely broad, we will resume in this paragraphs to the problem of the nominal markers wa/ga in order to show that these two particles are a parallel mechanism that conveys definiteness in Japanese. It acts like a topicalisation marker since the semantic content that is determined by these particles becomes focused and they bring about the details about the noun they determine.
