Abstract

In the constsuction and reconstruction of a nation’s history, alongside other historicale elements, the narrative of literature can also play a significant role. Particularly through drama, where the true essence of socio-political realities flows, the acts and scenes of plays often embody the sprite of time and history. The study of evalution of political and historical plays can therefore profoundly engage any researcher in the expioratoin of history. In shaping the cultural identity of Bangladesh, the role of drama is paramount. Being a visual form of poetry, it holds even greater significance and recognition. The socio-political and economic contexts of Bangladesh were entirely different in the pre-1947 period, from 1947 to 1971, and in the post-1971 era. The Language Movement and the Liberation War are two major historical events in our national life. Playwrights, drawing on their unique vision and insight, have endeavored in various ways to dramatize these significant events. The fall of Nawab Sirajuddaula in 1757 is regarded as the sunset of Bengla’s independence. Thereafter followed nearly two hundred years of colonial rule. In the context of global politics, drama-like other forms of literature-underwent transformations.
