The Role of Sports and Physical Activity in Enhancing Physical Fitness, Mental Health, and Academic Performance among University Students
This paper explores the combined influence of sports and physical activity on the physical fitness, mental health, and academic performance of university students. While general physical activity contributes to health by enhancing cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and body composition, organized sports add unique benefits such as teamwork, discipline, and motivation. University students often face sedentary lifestyles and academic stress, which may negatively affect their well-being and academic outcomes. Through a synthesis of existing studies, this article highlights the benefits of active lifestyles, identifies barriers to participation, and proposes strategies for encouraging student involvement. Findings suggest that integrating both sports and physical activity into student routines may significantly improve health and academic success.
