Art Nouveau Inspirations in Contemporary Garment Transformation
Art Nouveau, with its organic curves, floral ornamentation, and fluid architectural gestures, continues to inspire contemporary fashion designers seeking to bridge historical aesthetics with innovative practices. While often referenced for its decorative qualities, the movement also offers fertile ground for methodological experimentation in garment construction. This article examines how Art Nouveau can be reinterpreted through two experimental approaches: fragmented corset-making and architectural embroidery. Both methods highlight the potential of randomness, process-driven design, and the translation of architectural motifs into textile surfaces.
