ANALYSIS OF THE STATE OF THE EGG-LAYING POULTRY INDUSTRY

This article presents an analysis of the current state of the egg-laying poultry industry based on statistical data and sectoral research materials. Global trends in egg production are reviewed, with a focus on Russia’s position among the world’s leading egg producers. The study examines the volumes and dynamics of egg production and consumption in Russia, the industry structure by farm categories, foreign trade indicators, price trends, and factors affecting the profitability of poultry farms. Special attention is paid to challenges such as import dependence (particularly reliance on imported hatching eggs for breeding) and epidemiological risks. The paper also discusses prospective directions for industry development – including deeper processing of egg products, expansion of product assortment, and the establishment of domestic production of special “Clean Eggs” standard hatching eggs for vaccine manufacturing, in order to ensure biosecurity and reduce import reliance.
