Mathematical Derivation of Cushing's Triad: Revealing the True Mechanism Through Pressure Change Dynamics.
We present a mathematical derivation showing that Cushing’s triad results from diastolic pressure reduction rather than systolic elevation. Using pressure change dynamics and energy conservation principles within the de Broglie framework for cerebral hemodynamics, we demonstrate that raised intracranial pressure forces opposing changes in arterial pressure components. This explains the consistent clinical observation of systolic pressures around 160-170 mmHg with diastolic pressures of 50-60 mmHg, fundamentally challenging a century of medical teaching.
