TRANSLATION OF CULTURE KEYWORDS FROM UZBEK TO ENGLISH: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF LOSS AND GAIN IN MEANING

Translation of cultural keywords from Uzbek to English presents both linguistic and cultural challenges. Keywords embody cultural values, traditions, and worldviews, which are often difficult to render adequately in another language. This article explores the phenomenon of semantic loss and gains in the translation of cultural keywords, with emphasis on how Uzbek cultural terms are transferred into English. By comparing examples from folklore, literature, and everyday speech, the paper highlights strategies used by translators, as well as the implications of their choices.
