Accelerating Sustainability in Gas Processing through IIoT: Initiation Models & Strategy
This paper, presented at the 30th GPA-GCC Technical Conference held from 29 April to 1 May 2025 at the Kempinski Al Othman Hotel, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, explores the transformative role of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in enhancing sustainability within gas processing facilities. It introduces implementation models and strategic frameworks that integrate IIoT-based emissions intelligence, predictive maintenance, water and waste optimization, and cybersecurity to accelerate decarbonization and improve operational resilience. The paper also presents field case studies from GCC gas processing facilities, highlighting measurable improvements in methane intensity, energy efficiency, and water reuse, while aligning with global sustainability standards such as ISO 14001, OGMP 2.0, and IFRS S2.
