INVESTIGATION OF DIFFERENT INOCULANTS EFFECT'S ON CAMSHAFT CASTING QUALITY
Camshafts produced from nodular cast irons are widely preferred in the automotive industry due to their high toughness, ductility, and strength. In this study, the effects of different inoculants on the casting quality of nodular cast irons for camshaft production were investigated. Four types of inoculants—Superseed Extra, Zircon, Inoculant 900, and Reseed—were used in the experiments. The influence of these inoculants was evaluated by examining the microstructure of the camshafts, with particular attention to the nodular graphite, its size, and distribution, using an image analysis system. Additionally, hardness and tensile tests were carried out to determine the impact of nodulizing on the mechanical properties of the produced camshafts.
