OPTIMIZATION OF MICROSPHERE CONTAINING SIDA ACUTA PLANT EXTRACT FOR ENHANCING ITS MICROBIAL EFFICIENCY
The present study aimed to design, formulate, and optimize microspheres loaded with Sida acuta plant extract to enhance its antimicrobial efficacy. Sida acuta extracts were obtained using methanol and petroleum ether solvents, yielding 4.17% and 2.81% respectively. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, phenolics, and flavonoids—compounds known for their pharmacological relevance. The methanolic extract, in particular, exhibited higher total phenolic (104.1 mg/g GAE) and flavonoid content (81.9 mg/g RE), indicating strong antioxidant potential.
