Variação Altimétrica nas Rotas do Transporte Coletivo

Efficient vehicle maintenance is vital for mobility, logistics, and construction companies. Although timely maintenance decisions have traditionally relied on data analysis and forecasting, manufacturer services are often costly or require additional infrastructure. We propose a new method to overcome these limitations by leveraging existing route‐planning features—such as route gradient—to develop a vehicle wear index from GIS data. In this context, this work‐in‐progress addresses the challenge of accurately quantifying elevation variation along Curitiba’s public transport routes. To that end, we developed a spatial algorithm employing vector interpolation. Applied to Curitiba’s Integrated Transport Network (RIT), a case study of the Ligeirão Boqueirão line revealed a total elevation change of 176 meters in one direction. This method provides a foundation for analyzing energy consumption, fleet maintenance, and accessibility in urban transport systems with varied topography.
