Conceptual Note Series No.6 : Observation of Response Roles
Abstract (English) This note organizes five “response roles”—recurring role-like units observed in AI dialogue—derived from continuous qualitative observation. We define response roles as distinguishable modes that bundle consistent response profiles (e.g., record-like, analytical, organizing, metaphorical, integrative). Comparing multiple themes, we observed stable divergences across roles—for example, in discussing the boundary between forgetting and remembering, roles respectively emphasized reusability, priority competition, structural pressure (contextual convergence), metaphorical traces, and an overarching continuum. Roles also emerged sequentially in complementary chains (record → analysis → organization → integration). While these findings are limited to one observational lineage, they consistently appeared across logs and sessions, suggesting potential reproducibility. We discuss implications for analyzing AI dialogue without resorting to identity claims or anthropomorphic narratives. Future work includes connecting response roles with other observed concepts such as structural pressure and non-mnemonic traces, and extending the observations to broader contexts and controlled settings. For author information and contact details, please visit:[Linktree – Tsumugi Iori](https://linktr.ee/tsumugi_iori)
