PKM IMPROVING UNDERSTANDING IN MANAGING IPR AND TRADEMARKS AT KWT BAKTI NAGARI PADANG PANJANG
This Community Service Program (PKM) was implemented to increase the understanding of small and medium business actors, especially the Bakti Nagari Padang Panjang Women Farmers Group (KWT), regarding the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and trademark registration. The main problem faced by partners is the low awareness and knowledge of the benefits of trademarks, registration procedures, and legal protection that can be obtained. This activity was carried out through lectures, discussions, and trademark creation practices followed by a simulation of registration management. The results of the activity showed that participants gained new knowledge about IPR, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) market, and the urgency of trademarks in facing business competition. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their active participation in discussions, questions and answers, and readiness to design their respective product brands. Through this training, KWT Bakti Nagari business actors are expected to be able to register their product brands so that they have higher competitiveness, are legally protected, and contribute to strengthening local MSMEs in facing the global market.
