Los primeros embarazos de María Luisa de Parma, princesa de Asturias, a través de los reportes diplomáticos (1769-1772)

The first pregnancies experienced by Maria Luisa of Parma (1751-1819), Princess of Asturias and wife of Prince Charles (1748-1819) [the future King Charles IV of Spain], were followed with interest by various figures at the Spanish court, including her father-in-law, King Charles III of Spain (1716-1788), and foreign ambassadors, who in their correspondence with their countries of origin revealed the enormous importance that this matter had for the Royal Family, the Court, and the nation in general. Although expectations were always high and news of pregnancies were announced with great pleasure, on many occasions they ended in disappointment when the desired birth did not occur and everything ended in abortion
