Professional Competence as Predictor of Teachers' Sense of Efficacy in Asuncion, Davao Del Norte

The current study examined the impact of professional competence on teachers' sense of efficacy. In this study, the researcher selected 185 elementary school teachers from the Asuncion District in Davao del Norte as the respondents. A stratified random sampling technique was used to select the respondents. A non-experimental quantitative research design using a descriptive-correlational method was employed. The data collected were subjected to the following statistical tools: Mean, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, and regression analysis. Findings revealed that professional competence and sense of efficacy of teachers in the Asuncion District in Davao del Norte were described as extensive. Furthermore, correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between professional competence and teachers' sense of efficacy in the Asuncion District, Davao del Norte. Evidently, regression analysis revealed that professional competence, in terms of environmental control and self-disclosure, was a significant predictor of teachers' sense of efficacy in the Asuncion District, Davao del Norte. It is therefore recommended that DepEd should allocate resources for ongoing, high-quality professional development programs that cater to the specific needs of teachers.
