The Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI) in the UK: Resources to accelerate physical sciences research
Accelerating Data-Driven Discovery in the Physical Sciences This talk, which was presented by Dr Nicola Knight (PSDI project coordinator) and Dr Wenkai Zhang (PSDI project delivery officer) at the CoRDI 2025 conference, introduces the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI), a UKRI-funded initiative designed to transform how data is accessed, shared, and reused across physical sciences research. PSDI connects existing experimental and computational resources, offering tools, services, and guidance to streamline data workflows. We showcase how PSDI supports open and FAIR research practices, with examples from domain specific exemplars and cross domain applications, highlighting PSDI's role in enabling collaborative, data-centric science.
