Virtual Reality and Its Application in Education and Training
Abstract Virtual reality (VR) is quickly changing the way knowledge is imparted and skills are learned in various disciplines and training areas. This research looks at virtual reality (VR), what makes it work, and what makes it useful in schools. Immersive learning experiences improve learners’ engagement, retention and application of knowledge, according to the study. In addition, it examines how VR is currently utilized within professional training and education, considers its merits and demerits, and discusses any further developments in the pipeline. Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a transformative technology in education and professional training, offering immersive, interactive, and experiential learning environments. This paper explores the fundamentals of VR technology, its components, and its integration into diverse educational and training contexts. A qualitative analysis of secondary sources, including academic research and case studies, highlights how VR enhances engagement, retention, and practical skill development. Applications span medical and STEM education, historical learning, special education, military and aviation training, corporate development, and emergency response. Despite challenges such as high costs, technical limitations, and accessibility barriers, VR demonstrates significant potential to revolutionize learning by providing safe, flexible, and effective environments. With advancements in artificial intelligence, haptic feedback, and cloud technologies, VR is poised to become a mainstream tool that reshapes modern teaching and training practices.
