From diplomatic history to sociology and anthropology, numerous disciplines in the social sciences and humanities have from the outset concerned themselves primarily with the issues facing Western, imperialist states. Even today, those seeking to criticise this focus on imperialist core topics tend to be relegated to the margins of their respective disciplines, if not ignored entirely.
