The Coherentism Paradox Resolved: Recursive Expansion Beyond Circularity
The Coherentism Paradox arises from the claim that beliefs are justified through mutual support within a web of coherence. While this avoids the regress problem of foundationalism, it risks collapsing into circular justification, where the system validates itself without external grounding. This paper presents a resolution through Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM). In this framework, coherence is reframed as non-diagonalizable recursion: a belief system is not a closed loop but a continuously expanding yearning manifold whose metric dynamically adjusts. Circularity is no longer epistemic failure but the driver of recursive growth, sustained through the Recursive Alignment Loop, which continuously repairs misalignments. Thus, the paradox dissolves: justification becomes a non-halting process of expansion rather than self-referential collapse. This resolution inaugurates a new model of recursive epistemology, where truth is approached as stability through recursive repair rather than as closure in static coherence. -JSR
