OPPORTUNITIES FOR REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ADVENTURE TOURISM

In recent years, the tourism sector has been recognized globally as an important driver of economic growth, employment generation, and regional infrastructure development. According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), alternative types of tourism, in particular adventure tourism, are recovering rapidly in the post-pandemic period and are gaining a significant share in the global tourism industry. This type of tourism usually includes active forms of tourism that are environmentally friendly, take place in an unnatural environment, and require physical and mental preparation. Adventure tourism often develops in mountainous, remote, or poorly developed areas. Therefore, it directly contributes to local economic activity, new jobs, expansion of the service network, and an increase in the income of the local population.

This type of tourism usually includes active forms of tourism that are environmentally friendly, take place in an unnatural environment, and require physical and mental preparation. Adventure tourism often develops in mountainous, remote, or poorly developed areas.
