Productivity and Distribution of Nominal Suffixes -ANCE and -ANCY in the Corpus of Contemporary American English
An undergraduate research thesis as a partial requirement for the degree of Sarjana Sastra (Bachelor of Arts with Honors/Research Component) in the Bachelor of English Literature program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University. The thesis investigates the issue of the interchangeability of the English suffixes -ance (as in arrogance) and -ancy (arrogancy) from the suffixes' productivity measures and usage frequencies with the shared base words. The datasource comes from the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) (Davies 2010). The thesis is a pedagogical and research output of the Computer-assisted Lexicology and Lexicography (CompLexico) research group at Udayana University.
