Organizational Buying with reference to Green Products in Higher Education Institutions
Abstract: This study investigates the implementation and impact of sustainable practices in higher education, with a focus on how institutional initiatives shape and support green buying. The research highlights the significant role of institutional efforts in fostering eco-consciousness on campuses. A qualitative survey, including in-depth interviews was conducted across 20 colleges in Karnataka, involving private institutions. The data collection period aligns with the academic cycle to ensure a thorough understanding of sustainability's influence in these settings. The anticipated findings suggest a positive relationship between the adoption of sustainable practices—such as organizational culture, leadership, and the integration of sustainable product design and employee environmental awareness and participation. Institutions with more robust sustainability efforts are expected to see higher student engagement in eco- friendly behaviours and stronger alignment with environmental stewardship values. Qualitative analysis explores how sustainable practices resonate with students. The research aims to assess the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives and green buying in higher education and to evaluate factors influencing organizational green buying. The findings will provide valuable insights for administrators, educators, and policymakers, guiding the integration of sustainability into campus operations and curricula, ultimately enhancing institutional practices towards promoting environmental responsibility.
