Un fact-check de crecimiento y mercado laboral en Paraguay (1S-2025)

This article performs a fact-check on four public statements regarding the macroeconomic situation and the labor market in Paraguay during 1S-2025. Using officialstatistics from the BCP (IMAEP) and INE (EPHC), we verify: (i) economic activity growth of 5.2%; (ii) an increase in the employed population by 124,500 people; (iii) anincrease of ≈ 40,000 "formal" workers; and (iv) a drop in the unemployment rate from 6.4% to 4.9%. The first three statements are true (the first with a nuance: IMAEPis not GDP), while the third, phrased as "formal salaried workers," is imprecise: the correct category is formal non-agricultural workers. We conclude that the evidenceis consistent with the idea that the macroeconomy is reflected in the microeconomy (more activity, more employment, and greater formality), although this exercise isdescriptive and does not identify structural causality.JEL: E24, E32, J21, C22, O54.
