Examining The Technology Addictıons Of University Students Studying In Sports Sciences Faculty

Abstract The aim of this study is to determine the technology addiction levels of university students studying in sports sciences faculties and to examine whether these levels differ according to various demographic variables. In the study, survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used and cross-sectional survey design was adopted. The sample consisted of 471 students studying at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University Faculty of Sport Sciences. Demographic information form and Technology Addiction Scale were used as data collection tools. The findings showed that male participants had higher levels of technology addiction than female participants. There was no significant difference between age groups and departments of study. However, it was found that 3rd year students had higher addiction levels than 2nd year students. It was observed that department preference, academic achievement, socio-economic level, perception of the course of life and the number of social media accounts had no significant effect on technology addiction. It was found that the level of technology addiction increased as the time spent on the Internet increased. As a result of the study, it was determined that especially male students and 3rd grade students had higher levels of addiction to technology addiction. It is recommended that universities should organize awareness-raising activities for students and encourage healthy technology use. In future studies, it is thought that it would be useful to examine the issue in depth by using larger samples and different research methods. Keywords Sport Education, Addiction, Technological Addiction.
