Opportunities and Challenges of Women Entrepreneurship in India

Abstract Women play a pivotal role in the family, which in turn influences society and the nation. The social and economic advancement of women is essential for the comprehensive development of any society and nation. Entrepreneurship is an inherent trait in every woman, yet it has not been fully harnessed. This research paper on women entrepreneurship is significantly inspired by issues of gender equality and development. Contemporary researchers and policymakers increasingly recognize the importance of women entrepreneurs for economic growth. Women entrepreneurs are often perceived to encounter gender inequality and face more challenges in establishing and managing businesses compared to their male counterparts. The objective of this empirical study is to identify various motivating and demotivating internal and external factors. It reviews the primary obstacles faced by female entrepreneurs and proposes strategies for the elimination and reduction of these barriers to facilitate development.
