Youth Education and Technology: An Exploration of Chetan Bhagat's Five Point Someone
The early years of the twenty-first century have seen unprecedented changes in Indian society, in which education, technology, and the changing consciousness of youth have played a central role. This change has also found expression in Indian English Literature. Chetan Bhagat is one of the most prominent writers who has influenced millions of readers by presenting the aspirations, struggles, and challenges of urban youth in simple language. His first novel, Five Point Someone (2004), presents a realistic picture of the technology-centric education system and its impact on the lives of students. In modern India, technology has given a new direction to education, but it has also brought many complexities with it. Increasing academic pressure on students, changing teaching styles, and expectations of parents and society are all factors affecting the psyche of today's youth. This novel by Chetan Bhagat highlights the realities of the Indian engineering education system, especially the prestigious institutions like IIT.
