India's Higher Education: Policy-Induced Migration vs. Government Regulations
The policies promulgated by the government steer the geographical mobility of the Indian students pursuing higher education. Mobility is enabled through the provision of scholarships, Reservations, and grant of academic incentives; however, some policies also impose restrictions of domicile-based quotas and fees that dictate movement patterns of students. In this article, the impacts of policy-induced migration are juxtaposed with the government-mandated emigration controls regarding the mobility of students to analyse the trends, merits, and challenges involved. This research intends to deeply explore the impact policies have on the education system of India using case studies and statistical modelling.
