Mini-Symposium-(Dual)-Doppler Wind Radar for Wind Energy Applications-The Wind Energy Science Conference2025 (WESC25)_Nantes_June24-27

This publication collects presentations from the mini-symposium titled (Dual)-Doppler Wind Radar for Wind Energy Applications, providing a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art wind radar technology. The mini-symposium took place in the Wind Energy Science Conference 2025 (WESC25) in Nantes from June 24th to 27th 2025. The mini-symposium features the project Windpark-RADAR (ref. no.03EE3031A) funded by the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The associated first German measurement campaign takes place in Krummendeich, Germany, in adjancent to WiValdi research wind farm operated by The German Aerospace Center (DLR). The scope and latest updates from project Windpark-RADAR was presented. The following presentations cover the recent discoveries from the Krummendeich measurement campaign (scheduled for June - December 2025) and the significant previous campaign — AWAKEN. Furthermore, a methodology for recovering 2D wind fields from sparse measurements was introduced along with relevant examples. Modeled uncertainty estimation specifically addressing the expansion of the radar probe volume interaction with the modeled wind field was discussed.
