Prospects and Advances in Algal Cooking Oil Production: A Review of Research 2020–2025

This review examines recent developments (2020–2025) in producing edible-grade oils from algae, encompassing thermochemical conversions, transesterification, microalgal cultivation strategies, and commercial adoption. We highlight advances in hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL), pyrolysis, catalytic upgrading, lipid extraction, and synthesis of culinary oils. Challenges and future directions toward scalable, sustainable production are discussed.
