To Stay is to Lead: Emotional Intelligence and Identity Reshaping in Savi Sharma's Everyone Has a Story 2
In Everyone Has a Story 2, Savi Sharma presents a narrative where emotional strength speaks quietly yet powerfully. This paper explores the emotional journeys of Meera, Vivaan, Kabir, and Nisha through Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Theory, along with insights from Salovey and Mayer, Carol Gilligan, and Martha Nussbaum. Emotional leadership here is rooted not in dominance but in presence—choosing care over control and patience over panic. Using Goleman’s five competencies, the paper shows how Sharma’s characters model psychological and relational resilience. Meera and Nisha reflect Gilligan’s “ethics of care,” while Kabir and Vivaan challenge traditional masculinity by leading through emotional openness. Hochschild’s concept of emotional labour reveals how subtle emotional contributions, especially by women, become forms of resistance and strength. Ultimately, this paper reinterprets Sharma’s novel not as mere romantic fiction, but as an emotional manifesto—where resilience is not solitary but shared, forged through empathy, vulnerability, and connection.
