Sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy lifestyle: A threat to public health
A sedentary lifestyle has become a serious public health problem in recent decades. In addition to increasing the incidence of non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, and obesity, this behavioral pattern plays an important role in exacerbating mental disorders such as depression and anxiety. Modern life has exacerbated this crisis by reducing daily physical activity and increasing sitting time. Various studies have shown that regular physical activity can neutralize or control a large part of these consequences. In this article, while reviewing the physical and mental consequences of inactivity, the necessity of promoting an active lifestyle and the role of social policies in reducing this problem are examined.
