Critical Analysis of the National Education Policy 2020 with Respect to Inclusive Education

Abstract The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a significant transformation in India's educational framework, with inclusivity as its central tenet. This paper offers a critical examination of the NEP 2020's provisions for inclusive education, assessing its strengths, weaknesses, and the challenges associated with implementing its vision. Aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality education for all, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable groups, the policy presents a comprehensive framework. However, despite its ambitious provisions, the success of the NEP is contingent upon addressing numerous socio-economic, infrastructural, and cultural barriers that continue to impede inclusive education in India. This paper investigates how the NEP can be enhanced to better serve all students, with particular emphasis on marginalized communities, students with disabilities, and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
