EFFECT OF MORDANTS ON ERI SILK FABRIC DYED WITH MANJISTHA (RUBIA CORDIFOLIA)
Enhancing the beauty of the material was largely dependent on the dyeing technique. Using colouring agents. Dyeing is the process of imparting particular colours and tints to thread, fabric, and other materials. Natural colours are gaining popularity worldwide as a result of the pollution and harm that synthetic dyes contribute to the environment. Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia), a natural dye source, was chosen to conduct the study in order to create a range of harmonious natural tones on Eri silk fabric using alum and myrobalan mordant. Under ideal dyeing conditions, a variety of colours, including brick red, orange-red, and brown, were produced. In conclusion, it can be said that various mordants used in natural dyes yield unique colour palettes or hues and are environmentally safe enough to be used effectively for dying Eri silk fabric. This has the ability to offer the fabric a fresh appearance and contribute to product diversity.
