A Study on the Influence of Teaching Methods on Coping and Resilience among Students
Abstract The term coping denotes the strategies opted by the individual to handle the stressors. Whereas resilience means the ability of a person to bounce back to normality after facing a stressful event or situational crisis. The present study was conducted to measure the difference in the Coping and Academic Resilience among 87 high school students studying in CBSE and State syllabus. The Robust - Pandemic Coping Scale which was (R-PCS) developed by Roberto Burro et.al (2021) and Academic Resilience Scale which was developed by Simon Cassidy (2016) were administered to the subjects. The causal comparative design was implemented to know the significant difference in pandemic coping and academic resilience among the students studying in CBSE and State syllabus. Further, correlational research method was adopted to measure the extent of relation between pandemic coping and academic resilience. The obtained ‘t’ values revealed that there exist significantly higher maladaptive coping scores as well as significantly lower adaptive coping scores among CBSE students than their counterparts. The Pearson’s Product moment correlation showed significant moderate negative correlation between maladaptive and adaptive coping as well as between maladaptive coping and academic resilience. However, significant moderate positive correlation was found between adaptive coping and academic resilience.
