A STUDY ON ACQUISITION STRATEGIES AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE IN INDIA'S PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR
In today’s fast-paced and highly competitive business landscape, companies frequently adopt acquisition strategies to drive growth, expand market presence, and strengthen their competitive edge. However, the impact of these acquisitions on financial performance has been widely studied and remains a topic of ongoing discussion. Gaining insights into how acquisitions influence financial outcomes is essential for business leaders making strategic decisions and for investors assessing potential returns. In recent years, the Indian pharmaceutical industry has witnessed significant growth and transformation, driven by increasing healthcare demands, rising consumer needs, advancements in medical research, and supportive government policies. This study aims to evaluate the financial performance of three selected pharmaceutical companies in India while examining the impact of acquisitions on their financial outcomes. The study focuses on three pharmaceutical companies—Shivalik Rasayan Ltd, Sequent Scientific Ltd, and Lincoln Pharmaceuticals Ltd—selected for their prominence in the Indian pharmaceutical sector. Covering a span of eight years, from 2012-13 to 2019-20, the study is structured into two distinct phases: the pre-acquisition period (2012-13 to 2015-16) and the post-acquisition period (2016-17 to 2019-20).
