Erythrogonia Melichar 1926

Genus Erythrogonia Melichar, 1926 Type species: Cicada laeta Fabricius, 1787 by subsequent designation of Melichar (1926). Diagnosis (based on Medler 1963, Young 1977, and Freytag 2015). Small to medium-sized sharpshooters (5.2–9.2 mm); crown with apical margin rounded; pronotum with width less than transocular width of head and with characteristic spot of variable color; color of dorsum usually contrasting and with distinctive pattern of markings; male subgenital plates slender, triangular, usually not extending as far posteriorly as pygofer apex, and always bearing macrosetae; aedeagus usually without processes; paraphyses usually present.
